Range of waterproof, breathable and vapour control layers which consist of coupling two or more layers of polypropylene of varying weight and with an intermediate layer of a micro-porous material which depending on the concentration of micro-pores can have water proofing and breathable properties (TS) or act as a vapour control (VAP) barrier. These layers are ecological and replace the conventional bitumen or chemical roofing membrane underlay for pitched roofs. These products are practical and fast to install as they are laid dried, secured in place by bonding or fastening and ensure, thanks to new technologies, resistance to tearing and abrasion offering a solution with a good quality / price ratio. These layers are ideal for waterproofing both wood and cement roofs whether they are ventilated or not, and are applied onto a sheet underlay or on top of wood joists. Using this type of waterproofing perfectly couples with the concept of utilising natural insulating materials with high-breathable properties, definitely an important feature, but, however if used incorrectly there is the risk of generating condensation including interstitial condensation which is prohibited by the recent building regulations provided in the Legislative Decrees 192/05 and 311/06 . Therefore, in certain cases, it is necessary to correct vapour flow by using the specific vapour control barriers (VAP) which are positioned between the wood joists and insulating material and then combined with a top waterproof and breathable (TS ) layer. The choice of product weight depends on the mechanical resistance required for the type of roofing to install.
